Exploring the ways to get coconut oil

There are many ways to get oil from coconuts. Some are more difficult and takes more time and with the advancement in technology news ways have come up in the market which can extract oils from coconut easily.

The cold processed coconut oil:

To make coconut oil by cold process no heat is required.

  • Take fresh as well as full-grown coconuts for making oil.
  • After splitting the coconut collect the water of coconut from it.
  • Slice the coconut and collect the flesh of coconut.
  • Bag the flesh of the coconut for this use only white mesh bag of nylon.
  • For collecting the milk from coconut flesh put the bag containing the flesh of coconut inside a cold press machine. And if cold press machine is not available then one can use hand for pressing by using gloves. Then collect the milk of coconut.
  • Wet through the pressed bag in water of coconut and press for sometime. Then collect the milk of coconut.
  • Let the coconut milk to resolve untouched in a cupboard at a temperature of 32degreeC for a period of 10-17 hours. And the coconut oil will be separated naturally from proteins and water.
  • Then cautiously gather and filter the coconut oil and be sure not to mix the coconut oil with the water layer at the bottom. The oil produced by this cold process is colorless.

The boiling process

Coconut oil can be produced by using boiling process.

  • Take a coconut and split it and collect the water of the coconut.
  • By using a knife or spoon, take out the flesh of the coconut and collect it and keep it in a bowl.
  • Then 2 cups of water is added to the flesh of the coconut. Squeeze the water and flesh of coconut collectively for 5minutes.
  • Then separate the milky juice from the mixture of coconut by squeezing it hard. And repeat it again and again until all the milk has squeezed out.
  • Make the milk of coconut flow through the strainer. Keep the coconut flesh sideways.
  • Then transfer the coconut milk in to a pan and keep it on the stove and boil it. While boiling make a constant stir of the milk. After sometime the oil will start to split from the mixture.
  • After continuous stirring the mixture will start to turn brown and hard and clear oil will be separated from the hard mixture.
  • And then separate the oil and collect it and keep it in a glass bowl.
  • After straining the oil once again by using a coffee filter allow it to cool and you can use the oil.
